KIA ORA and WELCOME
Tēnei rā te pōwhiri, te reo karanga e toro atu nei ki te motu, ki te ao whānui.
Nau mai, haere mai, kake mai.
Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
This is an invitation and call extending across the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific Islands and internationally. Welcome and greetings to one and all.
The conference theme, Cultivating New Futures Together: Growth for Life expresses the belief that we must work together to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people who are blind, deafblind or have low vision. The Expanded Core Curriculum as the body of knowledge and skills needed by all learners with vision impairment is recognised as central to the development of learning and skills for life.
Our shared responsibilities and aspirations are reflected in the Māori whakataukī (proverb), Poipoia te kākano kia puawai: Nurture the seed and it will blossom.
This conference provides an exciting opportunity to use our collective voices, skills and ideas to bring about new growth and learning.
This event hosted by SPEVI New Zealand.
