Celebrating Change!

We are delighted to announce the 2021 SPEVI Virtual Conference with the theme:

Celebrating Change

This online event ran 18-19 January 2021.

This event was hosted by the RIDBC Renwick Centre.

Greetings SPEVI members and friends! My name is Ben and as conference convener, I am delighted to invite you to a truly historic and unique event for our organisation, the 2021 online SPEVI conference.

Over the years, SPEVI has become known for its top quality conferences that showcase the latest in research, assistive technology and ideas related to the education of people with vision impairment and additional disability. Our forum brings together parents and professionals who not only thrive in exchanging ideas but form partnerships and friendships that have a positive impact on the vision education sector throughout our region and globally. The high standard of presentations and keynote speakers, combined with opportunities for socialising and networking make SPEVI's conferences a unique and very popular occasion for all. As we move into the online space for the first time, we will continue to offer all that is good in SPEVI and a whole lot more besides. Learn from leading professionals as they explore current issues related to education and vision impairment, liaise with parents, students and technology experts. Reunite with old friends and network to your hearts content.

The photo shows SPEVI bear, dressed in casual blue striped shirt and shorts, sitting at a desk with a laptop and wearing headphones. The SPEVI website is up on the screen of his laptop and shows the announcement ‘Virtual SPEVI 2021 Conference!’
SPEVI Bear may even put in a virtual appearance!

Our theme, Celebrating Change refers to events during 2020 that have forced all of us to make drastic changes in all aspects of our lives.

The education sector where delivery of education and support services switched to a remote, often online environment. While there are sure to be negatives, there are also many positives and our conference seeks to identify the challenges and potential solutions. We look back to a year of change and then forward to what we've learnt and how our students receive the best possible educational experience in a changing environment, also focusing on the delivery of services that were traditionally achieved face to face.

Come join us in January for a memorable, entertaining and informative experience.

Events like the SPEVI Conference are not possible without support from exhibitors and sponsors! We are grateful for the support of our 2021 Conference Exhibitors!
